Season’s greetings and a look back at Data Summit Luxembourg
As 2024 draws to a close, we take a moment to thank everyone who has helped make the second year of LNDS a success and share our best end-of-year wishes. Thank you to our data partners, supporters, and the team behind LNDS, working together to enable value creation from secondary use of data. Highlights of such data projects, were showcased at the recent Data Summit Luxembourg – the signature event for public sector data.
Together, we have taken strides this year in unlocking the potential of data. The second year of LNDS has been a year of growth – in team size, data projects and service portfolio. We will continue developing our data services and supporting our partners in new and exciting projects as we continue this journey into 2025.
Year highlight: Driving Innovation at the Data Summit Luxembourg
On 11 December 2024 we hosted the second edition of Data Summit Luxembourg at the European Convention Center Luxembourg. Following the success of the inaugural edition, the Data Summit Luxembourg 2024 edition brought together around 500 participants and featured 35 speakers across 23 presentations and two parallel training sessions. These numbers, combined with the support of our 17 partners and sponsors, tells that the event lived up to the promise of its first edition, enlarging its scope and scale.
With the theme Innovation throughout the Data Journey, this year’s focus was on our data partners. We introduced the concept of the End-to-End Data Journey – a concept we will further explore and share in the months to come. Alongside the End-to-End Data Journey, through keynotes and panel discussions, we explored the upcoming Data Governance Act and the key importance of collaboration – both nationally and internationally, for driving impactful solutions for society. Moreover, side-by-side to the plenary sessions, pre-registered participants could join introductory trainings on Data Protection and Data Stewardship. The concluding futuristic keynote on the potential of Web 3.0, offered a glimpse into the potential opportunities ahead.
Data is and will be a key enabler of innovation and better policymaking. Insights from Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin, and Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity and Minister of Justice, Elisabeth Margue, highlighted Luxembourg’s forward-thinking approach to data and AI, including the importance of the news that Luxembourg with its project ‘Meluxina-AI’ has been selected by the EuroHPC, as one of seven consortia to establish and operate one of the first AI Factories across Europe.
