2024 LNDS Service Portfolio Updates

Service Portfolio updates in 2024

At LNDS, we are committed to co-creating, developing and delivering data services that enhance data accessibility, security, and utility for our partners. Over the past year, we have expanded our portfolio with new services and refined existing ones to better support Luxembourg’s data ecosystem.

In this article, we summarise an overview of the key developments of 2024. For more details of the data services, we encourage you to visit the Service Portfolio.

5 new services launched in 2024

Co-developed with our data partners, we introduced five new services to the LNDS service portfolio:

We tailor these services to address specific challenges in the data landscape, and aim to provide more value to our data partners in enabling data reuse and creating impact.

The Secure Processing Environment service was released at the Data Summit Luxembourg 2024

Secure Processing Environment

One of the most recent additions to our service portfolio is the Secure Processing Environment (SPE). The SPE enables the safe reuse of confidential data by providing a sovereign, zero-trust virtual platform. Data holders can mitigate risks of unauthorised access and review outputs for sensitive information, while data users benefit from a secure environment for performing analytics. This collaborative solution is standards-compliant, flexible, and reliable, empowering data reuse with confidence. The SPE service was officially launched at the Data Summit Luxembourg 2024 and aligns the developments of the government in preparation of the implementation of the Data Governance Act.

Research Data Archival

Recognising the challenges researchers and organisations face in preserving research data, we developed and released the Research Data Archival service. Our Research Data Archival service supports the preservation of research outputs, ensuring their long-term accessibility and reusability. It includes discipline-specific guidelines, practical recommendations, tailored training programmes, and a national helpdesk for real-time support. By simplifying preservation practices, this service enhances the sustainability of Luxembourg’s research ecosystem.

Data Protection Training

Our Data Protection Training programme offers an interactive e-learning course, tailored for public sector professionals, researchers, and data managers. Combining foundational and advanced General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) principles, the training includes practical examples and assessments to strengthen understanding. Although not designed for Data Protection Officers, it offers participants a thorough understanding of GDPR compliance and practical strategies to avoid common errors.

Identifier-matching and Pseudonym Management Service

Developed in collaboration with INCERT, the Identifier-matching and Pseudonym Management Service enables the pseudonymisation of sensitive data. Within this service, identifiers of sensitive data can be replaced with artificial identifiers (pseudonyms) to protect privacy while retaining the data’s utility. Delivered on a project-specific basis, the service facilitates secure, privacy-preserving data sharing between organisations. Whether for single or collaborative projects, this solution helps organisations maximise data utility without compromising sensitive information.

Data Analysis and Visualisation Support

The Data Analysis and Visualisation Support service helps organisations articulate and address their data analysis needs effectively. By assessing project goals and recommending tailored methodologies, we ensure that our partners can derive better insight from their data. Whether launching a new project or improving existing solutions, our support empowers organisations to create impactful visualisations that drive informed decision-making.

10 existing services updated

In addition to releasing new services, our team focused significant effort in updating and refining existing services, to better meet the evolving needs of our data partners. Updates included adding new features, improving usability, and streamlining internal processes.

We have updated following 10 services to improve support for our data partners:

As we step into 2025, we are proud of the progress made in 2024 and remain committed to advancing Luxembourg’s data ecosystem. Together with our data partners, we look forward to another year of innovation, collaboration, and growth.
